ACCESS Health is currently writing an instruction manual called How to Create, Manage, and Finance High Quality, Cost Effective Eye Hospitals: A Handbook of Best Practice. The Handbook will be a step by step guide to how to create and manage efficient, high quality, cost effective eye care surgical units. The book is drawn on the experience of pioneering eye care hospitals in India, including Aravind and LV Prasad in south and central India, as well as the experience in creating similar practices in Egypt, sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. The book will provide specific details regarding a range of surgical, organizational, and management best practices. We will outline effective outreach practices in schools and in poor communities both in urban and rural settings. We will also describe finance models for creating and managing eye care hospitals.
How to Create, Manage, and Finance High Quality, Cost Effective Eye Hospitals: A Handbook of Best Practice is intended to be used by both public and private practitioners who wish to improve eye care services in their country.
